Directions From I-10 go north on U.S. Highway 31 and take a right. Turn left on Highway 225 and go north 4.5 miles. The park is on the left. From I-65 take Highway 225 south fifteen miles.
 
 
 
Site Description
The last major battle of the Civil War was fought at Blakeley. It was fought on April 19, 1865, the same day as the surrender of Gen. Robert E. Lee miles away in Virginia. The Battle of Blakeley was a major news event in the coverage of the Civil War.
