| Site Description |
Gettysburg National Military Park preserves and protects the Gettysburg battlefield and the Soldiers' National Cemetery, site of Lincoln's Gettysburg Address. The three days of fighting on July 1, 2, and 3, 1863, are considered a turning point in the war and marked the end of the second and final invasion of the North by the Confederate forces. NOTE: A new fully handicapped accessible Visitors Center with the restored Cyclorama is scheduled to open in spring 2008. Plans include a shuttle bus between the new visitors center and Gettysburg historic sites.
